FIELD: media services.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the field of distribution of content using OTT technology and transmission of video on demand (VoD) to a large number of client devices, for example, a server that provides a number of client devices, for example, with the same TV channel. Disclosed is a method for transmitting a data stream from a server to at least two client devices. According to the method, an outgoing stream is transmitted to at least two client devices. After that a predetermined part of the said data stream is buffered in a shared buffer. When receiving requests from clients for retransmission of data from at least one of at least two specified client devices, retransmission of the requested data from the specified shared buffer is performed.
EFFECT: ensuring the consumption of fewer resources when transmitting the data stream.
