SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio communication and namely to systems for reconfiguring the UE when the UE monitors the radio link. A method for performing radio link monitoring includes performing a radio link monitoring (RLM) procedure by user equipment (UE) with the first RLM parameters; receiving at the UE a message including at least one second RLM parameter; detecting, by the UE, a difference between the first RLM parameters and the at least one second RLM parameter; and resetting at least one of the first RLM parameters in the UE in response to detecting a difference between the first RLM parameters and the at least one second RLM parameter. The method may configure the UE when performing RLM by adapting the difference between the current RLM parameters and the future parameters so that the behavior of the UE is understood.

EFFECT: invention ensures that radio link monitoring is performed with confidence while configuring future radio link monitoring parameters in the UE.
