SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication networks. Technical result is achieved by measuring a reference signal received along communication lines of a radio link passing between user equipment and network devices in a wireless network; selecting from path communication channels for link quality assessment for operation of radio communication line based on measurements of reference signal and criterion for evaluation of serving communication line with allowance for multiple paths or path selection, wherein the criterion is configured by filtering the single path indicator, selecting the paths based on the threshold comparison or ranging the indicators, obtaining a single link quality indicator by combining the selected paths by mathematical methods containing weighted summation, and/or link quality assessment by comparing the obtained indicator with the threshold; generating a radio link indication based on the estimated link quality indicator or link recovery operation status associated with the selected path; sending a radio link indication from a device physical layer to an upper layer of the device.

EFFECT: enabling detection of communication line failures and failure recovery of a communication line in network equipment to optimize performance.
