FIELD: electrical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering, in particular to methods and devices for limiting overload of island converter of bipolar flexible direct current transmission system and to direct current transmission. During stable operation in island mode, two bipolar converters use a control strategy for voltage-to-frequency constant-error behaviour, which is as soon as overvoltage of converter at one pole is detected, constant-error behaviour power control mode of the converter with overload automatically switches from the voltage-to-frequency mode to the active-to-reactive power control mode, thus the overload monitoring function is performed. This method allows effectively solving the overload problem and the problem of voltage and frequency stabilization of AC of double-pole flexible DC transmission system and has important guiding value for use of island systems in direct current circuits.
EFFECT: technical result is providing safe and stable operation of the converter.
