FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering and can be used to diagnose the state and control the drive electromagnets (EM) of valves and switching devices. Determination of the current value of the current through the winding and the sign of the rate of its change is carried out after processing the result of measuring the current by a low-pass filter at the stage of releasing the EM after removing the voltage from its winding. Moreover, from the moment of time when the current value of the current through the winding begins to increase, corresponding to the beginning of the armature movement when released, and until the moment characterizing the end of the armature movement, the current value of the position of the armature of the EM is determined at each moment of time of its movement when released by the current value of the current through the winding. The magnitude of the local maximum current is then determined at the time when the current value of the current through the winding begins to decrease after its increase during release. This moment in time of reaching the local maximum of the current is considered the end of the armature movement, and a sign is formed indicating the transition of the electromagnet armature to the final position when released. Also proposed is a functional diagram of a device for determining the position of an EM armature, focused on using the PIC16F1778 microcontroller as a control element that ensures the implementation of the operations of the claimed method. The performance and efficiency of the proposed technical solution has been confirmed experimentally.
