FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the control of drive electromagnets (EM) of valves and switching devices. To achieve the objective of the invention, the voltage is measured at the output of the power source of the electromagnet, the power source is connected to the winding, when a given point in time is reached, the current value in the electromagnet winding is measured and the power source is disconnected from the winding, and the position of the armature with respect to to the stop (initial gap) without triggering the electromagnet. Moreover, the specified point in time is set as the maximum allowable, provided that when it is reached, the operation of the electromagnet does not occur in all possible conditions of its operation. A functional diagram of a device for determining the position of the EM armature is also proposed (see Fig. 3); it is focused on the use of the PIC16F1778-I/SO microcontroller as the main calculating element, which ensures the implementation of the operations of the proposed method. Most of the functional diagram of the device is built using the internal peripheral modules of the microcontroller. If the EM is used as an actuator for an electric valve (EV) designed to open and close the working line through which a liquid or gaseous working fluid is supplied to the consumer, then the absence of actuation when determining the initial gap allows you to repeatedly control the initial gap without disturbing the work system in which EV is used, and to prevent unproductive consumption of the working fluid.

EFFECT: expansion of functionality by determining the position of the armature of the electromagnet without moving its moving parts.
