FIELD: diagnostic techniques.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a diagnostic technique. A method for diagnosing automobile generators by the parameters of an external magnetic field consists in determining the relative value (magnitude) of the external magnetic field using a magnetic field sensor (Hall sensor), while the sensor is oriented in relation to the automobile generator in such a way that it directly touches the outer surface at the upper point of the junction of the front and rear cover, and the axis of the sensor is perpendicular to the axis of the generator, and when analyzing the technical condition of the generator, a database is used, in which the correspondence between the relative value (magnitude) of the external magnetic field and the specific fault of the automobile generator is established.

EFFECT: capability to quickly determine specific faults of automobile generators directly on the car based on the obtained value of the relative value (magnitude) of the external magnetic field.
