An ultrasound examination of the carotid arteries is performed and the number of detected atherosclerotic plaques (AP) is counted independently in six areas of the carotid artery basin. Further, taking into account the age, sex, and the number of APs in the carotid artery basin, a high or very high risk of IHD is predicted.

EFFECT: method identifies persons with a high or very high risk of having coronary artery disease during ultrasound examination of the carotid arteries for the purpose of further examination for the presence of coronary artery disease, establishing a diagnosis and early initiation of therapeutic measures by assessing the totality of the most significant indicators.
