FIELD: predicting the nature of traffic in a road system.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for predicting the nature of traffic in a road system. A method for predicting the nature of vehicle movement in a road system contains steps performed by a single processor connected to a database that contains a number of traffic profiles. Each traffic profile is an indicator of the movement of vehicles in the road system. In this case, the specified tags associated with the recording time of the corresponding traffic profile are assigned to the mentioned traffic profile. Clustering of traffic profiles with their tags into a single cluster in case of dissimilarity of traffic profiles, for one tag in each cluster, calculating the significance level through statistical analysis, in which the significance level of each tag or combination of tags is calculated using chi-square statistics. If the significance level of the tag is higher than the threshold value, assigning this tag as a characteristic vector to this cluster, in the prediction engine, receiving a request having one or more query tags to determine the corresponding cluster, determining the cluster by matching the query tag with the characteristic vectors of the clusters, and outputting the predicted movement pattern based on a specific cluster.
EFFECT: reduced duration of vehicle travel.
