FIELD: wireless telecommunications networks.

SUBSTANCE: proposed invention relates to the field of wireless telecommunications networks, and in particular to methods for managing security keys in dual-connection scenarios, i.e. in a situation where a mobile terminal is connected to several base stations simultaneously. The method involves generating an auxiliary security key based, at least in part, on the primary security key; and the use of an auxiliary security key when generating one or more additional auxiliary security keys to encrypt data traffic, while data traffic is transmitted from the wireless terminal to the auxiliary base station when the wireless terminal is connected by a dual connection to the binding base station and to the auxiliary base station.

EFFECT: method provides an increase in the efficiency of the system, while ensuring confidentiality and protecting data integrity.
