The radio communication system comprises: a first radio station serving a first cell group (CG), including a first cell in accordance with a first radio access technology; a second radio station serving a second CG, including a second cell in accordance with the second radio access technology; and a radio terminal configured to perform double connectivity using the first CG and the second CG, wherein the first radio and the second radio are configured to configure for a common PDCP layer in a split bearer using the first CG and the second CG, the first radio is configured configurable for RLC, MAC and PHY in the first CG for the split bearer, the second radio is configured for the RLC, MAC and PHY layer in the second CG for the split bearer.

EFFECT: efficient transmission of control plane messages through a subordinate RAT cell in a radio architecture that allows two different RATs to communicate.
