SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to oncology, and can be used to predict the risk of locoregional recurrence in patients with lung cancer after pneumonectomy. Computed tomography of the chest organs is carried out 6 and 12 months after the operation. Using any program for viewing DICOM files with the function of determining the volume, the volume of the post-pneumonectomy cavity is estimated and compared with the volume of the cavity of the previous study. In cases where the volume of the cavity increases or remains the same, i.e. the ratio of the previous volume to the present volume is less than or equal to 1.0, the development of a locoregional relapse of lung cancer in a patient is predicted.

EFFECT: method provides assessment of the risk of locoregional recurrence in patients with lung cancer after pneumonectomy by determining the volume of the post-pneumonectomy cavity.
