SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in construction and the paint and varnish industry. Buckwheat husk non-food pigment-dye includes melanin and is a mechanocomposite of the following composition, wt. %: hydrolyzing component - 1-5, air-dry crushed buckwheat husk - the rest. To obtain a non-food pigment-dye, air-dry crushed buckwheat husk is mixed with a hydrolyzing component in the ratio of (95-99):(1-5) by weight, respectively. The resulting mixture in an air-dry state undergoes mechanochemical treatment in an activator mill. As an activator mill, flow-through ball vibro-centrifugal, elliptical centrifugal and roller centrifugal mills are used, which provide an acceleration of the acting bodies of 80-250 m/s2 and a residence time in the processing zone of 0.5-2.5 minutes. Adjustment of the cooling system of activator mills ensures product output with a temperature not exceeding 70°C.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to practically completely utilize buckwheat husk into a useful product – a non-food pigment-dye, simplifying its production by eliminating liquid-phase stages and drying.
