FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing polymethylene sulfide, comprising condensation of an aldehyde-forming component with an alkali metal sulfide or an alkali metal hydrosulfide in an aqueous solution. The method is characterized by the fact that paraformaldehyde (paraform) is used as an aldehyde-forming component, and the condensation is carried out during processing by ultrasonic vibrations with a frequency of 18 to 120 kHz.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at increasing the yield of polymethylene sulfide (PMS) for formaldehyde to quantitative, simplifying the procedure for isolating the product, reducing the amount of by-products.
