FIELD: railway transportation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to determining the train location. The technical result is achieved through application of a radar system with linear frequency modulation installed on the operator cab determining the landmarks of the railway track, such as transformer booths, railway crossings, switches, traffic lights, contact network supports etc., calculates the distance thereto and azimuth angles and compares them with a digital roadmap. The method is based on the use of landmarks along the entire railway track as information reflective marks characterized by a radar system based on an MIMO system being used for detection thereof, wherein said system is located in the front part of the locomotive and contains a transmitting sounding channel and two receiving reflected channels with the following action sequence: the reflected signals through the receiving channels are processed following the algorithm for solving a direct geodetic problem.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of determining the train locomotive location by the railway track infrastructure, especially for high-speed trains.
