SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication technology, particularly to a wireless communication method and a wireless communication apparatus. The technical result is achieved by the communication system comprising a base station in communication with the core network of the first communication standard and the core network of the second communication standard. The information transmitted by the base station includes the first area identifier. The method includes: receiving by the terminal information transmitted by the base station; when the terminal is moved from a cell of the first communication standard to a cell served by the base station, the information transmitted by the base station includes the second area identifier, initiating an area update by the terminal to the core network of the second communication standard; or, when the terminal is moved from a cell of the second communication standard to a cell served by the base station, the information transmitted by the base station includes the second area identifier not belonging to the current terminal area list, initiating an area update by the terminal to the core network of the second communication standard, thus prompting the base station to transmit the area identifiers of the two communication standards.

EFFECT: increased security of communication for the terminal during movement of the terminal between cells.
