FIELD: materials science.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of space materials science, in particular to the development of materials that provide local means of protecting astronauts’ and electronic equipment from the negative factors of outer space. Polymer nanocomposite for protection against space impact includes a matrix - polytetrafluoroethylene - 38-47 wt. %, filler - unmodified bismuth oxide Bi2O3 - 49.6-59.8 wt. % and additionally contains tungsten carbide WC - 2.2-3.4 wt. %. A method for producing a polymer nanocomposite includes mixing the components using an ultrasonic disperser (44 kHz) in an isopropyl alcohol solution; filtration and further evaporation of isopropyl alcohol, cryogenic grinding, loading of components into a mold and heating to 250-270°С; pressing at a pressure of 80 MPa, gradual cooling, depressurization with further cooling to room temperature, sintering of the obtained sample at a temperature of 360-370°С.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at obtaining a polymer nanocomposite with a low density, high hardness and surface wear resistance.
