FIELD: materials science.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of space materials science, in particular to the development of materials providing additional protection for the hardware components, individual components and electronic equipment units against the damaging effects of ionizing radiation from outer space. Polymer composite for protection against space radiation includes a polymer binder and a modified bismuth-containing filler in the following ratio of components: polyimide – 25–46 wt.%; modified bismuth silicate Bi12SiO20 – 54–75 wt.%. Polymer composite for protection against space radiation production method includes mixing the components, loading into the mold with further heating, pressing and annealing.
EFFECT: invention allows to produce a polymer composite for protection against space radiation with a wide temperature range of operation and high strength characteristics.
