FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to protection from ionising radiation and can be used to protect electronic devices of spacecraft operating on a geostationary orbit from the destructive effect of magnetic storms. The composite for protection from cosmic radiation, which contains an organosilicon liquid and heavy metal oxide powder, is characterised by that it also contains polytetrafluoroethylene (matrix) as a component, and the organosilicon liquid - Penta-808 is used as a surface modifier for bismuth oxide Bi2O3, with the following ratio of components, wt %: polytetrafluoroethylene 37-45, modified bismuth oxide Bi2O3 55-63, organosilicon liquid - Penta-808, taken with respect to the weight of pure Bi2O3 0.8-1.0.
EFFECT: improved protective characteristics with respect to γ-rays and high-energy electron flux while maintaining the possibility of removing the accumulated bulk charge, wider operating temperature range and improved strength properties of the composite.
