METHOD FOR PRESERVING ORGANS AND TISSUES AS PART OF INTEGRAL ORGANISM IN LIQUID AT TEMPERATURES BELOW 0°C UNDER PRESSURE IN INERT GAS Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC A01N1/00

Abstract RU 2748496 C1

FIELD: medicine; cryobiology; biotechnology; veterinary medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, cryobiology, biotechnology, veterinary medicine and can be used to preserve organs and tissues as part of an integral organism at temperatures below 0°C. The biological object is desaturated from nitrogen and saturated with oxygen. After that, xenon of 99.9% purity is added to the existing gaseous medium until an overpressure of 3 atm is reached. The biological object is kept in the resulting gaseous environment for 20 minutes. Then it is cooled by direct contact with a liquid inert to biological tissues with a crystallization temperature of less than -80°C, previously saturated with oxygen and cooled to -80°C. After that, the biological object is placed in a freezer at an ambient temperature of -20°C. The method makes it possible to achieve the preservation of organs and tissues as part of a whole organism at temperatures below 0°C. With the preservation of organs and tissues, the proposed method reduces the risk of developing a state of hypoxia due to the preliminary saturation of the body with oxygen, the degree of development of the state of acidosis decreases due to the rapid cooling of the body.

EFFECT: adequate contractile activity of the heart in the body is fully restored, including the correct cardiac cycle, there are no organ damage typical for temperatures below 0°C.
