SUBSTANCE: device belongs to the technical means of short-range radar, in particular altimeters. The device contains a clock generator, a strobe generation unit, a probe pulse generator, an antenna system, a receiver, and a microcontroller connected in series. The receiver is connected to an antenna system, a strobe forming unit, and a microcontroller. The microcontroller is additionally connected to a clock generator and a gate generation unit. In this case, the probing pulse generator is made according to a relaxation scheme on a drift diode with a sharp recovery, and the receiver is made according to the scheme of direct registration of the reflected signal in a high-speed sampling-storage device of an analog-to-digital converter.

EFFECT: reduced duration and average spectral power density of the probing pulse, which reduces visibility of the device for detection tools and increases its noise immunity against signal-like interference.
