FIELD: hydrogen energy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of hydrogen energy, in particular to a method for hydrogenation of titanium nickelide powder by its electrochemical hydrogenation in an electrolyte solution. Activated by the proposed method, titanium nickelide powders can be used for storing hydrogen. The method for electrochemical hydrogenation of titanium nickelide powder includes its preliminary mechanical-chemical activation with an acceleration of 50-75g in a planetary ball mill with an acceleration of 30-300 s, followed by hydrogenation of titanium nickelide powder in an aqueous electrolyte solution containing the following components, g/l: sodium chloride - 250-300, dextrin - 1.0-2.0, cesium chloride - 10-20, at a constant voltage of 3.6-5.0 V, cathode current density of 20-60 mA/cm2 for 90-120 minutes. In the electrolyte solution, the anode is placed below the cathode, it is made of a non-oxidizing material, such as graphite, and the cathode is made of a plate of cast titanium nickelide.
EFFECT: method allows increasing safety, reducing energy consumption and maintaining the yield of the target product by preliminary mechanical-chemical activation of titanium nickelide powder before electrochemical hydrogenation; the invention makes it possible to hydrogenate titanium nickelide with high concentrations of absorbed hydrogen and reduce the duration of the process of hydrogenation.
