FIELD: vehicle tires.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an elastomeric composition for tire components. The improvement of the static and dynamic mechanical properties of the elastomeric material, in particular the reduction of hysteresis, and the fact that tires made of such a material have limited rolling resistance, is achieved by an elastomeric composition that contains 100 parts per hundred parts of diene elastomeric polymer rubber. From 1 to 80 parts per hundred parts of rubber of modified silicate fibers of nanometer size with preserved needle morphology, containing from 3.8% to 12% magnesium. From 0 to 120 parts per hundred parts of rubber standard reinforcing filler. From 0 to 20 parts per hundred parts of rubber binder. Moreover, the modified fibers are obtained by a method that involves providing nanometer-sized silicate fibers with a needle-like morphology containing magnesium. The fibers are then suspended in a liquid medium. An acidic compound is added to the suspension, while setting the pH of the medium within the range from 2 to 4, preferably from 2.5 to 3.5. The reaction is ensured while maintaining the pH of the medium within the range from 2 to 4, preferably from 2.5 to 3.5, by further adding acid to extract from 10 to 70 wt % magnesium from the fibers, maintaining their crystal structure and needle-like morphology. The modified fibers are separated from the liquid medium.
EFFECT: improvement of the static and dynamic mechanical properties of the elastomeric material, in particular the reduction of hysteresis; tires made of such a material having limited rolling resistance.
