FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to cardiology, and discloses a method for selecting patients with long-term persistent atrial fibrillation for effective catheter treatment. The method is characterized in that in patients with long-term persistent atrial fibrillation, prior to catheter treatment, peripheral blood is taken in order to quantify the level of stimulating growth factor 2 in blood serum by means of an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Then a statistical calculation of threshold values of indicators is carried out using ROC-analysis, determination of sensitivity and specificity for certain values. If the ST2 level is more than 23.8 ng/ml, relapse is predicted within 12 months after surgery.
EFFECT: method is objective, highly informative and non-invasive, allows for a preoperative prognosis of the development of recurrent atrial fibrillation in patients with long-term persistent atrial fibrillation after catheter treatment and can be used as a method on the basis of which the effectiveness of catheter treatment of patients with long-term persistent atrial fibrillation can be predicted atria.
