FIELD: measuring.

SUBSTANCE: area of application: determining the oil flow rate in case of detection of metal particles in the diagnostic tools for friction units of a gas turbine engine. The substance of the invention consists in metal particles being detected using two spaced single-coil eddy-current sensing elements (SE) located in two cross-sections of the oil flow; the oil flow rate being determined by registering the time points corresponding with the extreme and predetermined threshold voltage values at the output of the measuring circuit when the metal particle passes through the circuit of the first SE based on previously taken grading characteristics in form of normalized dependencies of the signal at the output of the measuring circuit on the size and position of the particle on the axis orthogonal to the plane of the first SE and passing through the center thereof.

EFFECT: provided is possibility of reducing information redundancy and reduced time of determining the oil flow rate.
