FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to silica materials for use as a component of products for dental hygiene. Silicon dioxide particles have a BET surface (specific surface determined according to the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller method by nitrogen adsorption) within the range of 0.1 to 7 m2/g; tapped density within the range of 0.561 to 0.881 g/cm3; abrasiveness on the Einlechner scale within the range of 8 to 25 mg loss/100,000 rotations measured using an AT-1000 Einlechner abrasion test unit and a brass wire sieve of a fourdrinier paper machine; the total pore volume determined using mercury porosimetry within the range of 0.7 to 1.2 cm3/g; and compatibility with a tin(II) compound within the range of 70 to 99% measured after centrifugation at 12,000 rpm for 10 minutes using an optical emission spectrometer with inductively coupled plasma. Described is a method for synthesis of the particles.

EFFECT: said particles have improved compatibility with a tin(II) compound, including tin(II) fluoride, for improving the total effectiveness of the tin(II) compound in a composition for teeth hygiene.
