SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to traumatology and orthopedics, rheumatology, and deals with a method for detecting early changes in cartilage tissue at the pre X-ray stages of osteoarthritis of the knee joint. The essence of the method: the concentration of COMP in the blood serum and the content of the level of CTX-II in the urine are once determined with the calculation of the individual coefficients of СCOMP and СCTX-II as a quotient of dividing the absolute value of the concentration of the latter in the examined, СCOMPres and СCTX-IIres by the median value of the same indicators evaluated in a group of healthy individuals СCOMPnorm and СCTX-IInorm. Additionally, magnetic resonance imaging is performed in the T2-relaxometry mode with the determination of the CRELAX coefficient equal to the ratio of the average T2-relaxation time measured in the loaded areas of tstress to the average T2-relaxation time in the intact areas of the articular hyaline cartilage tintact in the projection of the medial condyles of the tibia in the subject. Then the total diagnostic coefficient C, equal to the sum of the coefficients of CCOMP, CSTX-II and CRELAX is calculated. With C<4.27, the absence of osteoarthritis is diagnosed, with C ≥4.27, its presence.

EFFECT: use of this invention will make it possible to identify early changes in the cartilage tissue at the pre X-ray stages of knee osteoarthritis due to a quantitative aggregate assessment of its local and systemic manifestations that objectively characterize the processes of remodeling articular hyaline cartilage.
