METHOD FOR DIAGNOSIS OF KNEE JOINT ARTHROSIS Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61B5/55 A61B5/107

Abstract RU 2681923 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of medicine, namely to general surgery, traumatology and orthopedics, and radiation diagnosis, and can be used to diagnose arthrosis of the knee joint. MRI of the knee joint is performed and its data are processed by the Syngo fastView program. Create 3D models of the articulation surfaces of the distal epiphysis of the femur and the proximal epiphysis of the tibia. Articular hyaline cartilage and bone are separated. Thickness of the cartilage of both articulation surfaces is measured in increments of 2 mm. Determine the average thickness of the cartilage of the articulation surfaces, and when determining, depending on the gender: in men, the average thickness of the hyaline cartilage of the femoral segment equal to 1.90–1.75 mm, and the average thickness of the hyaline cartilage of the tibial segment equal to 1.64–1.42 mm, and in women, the average thickness of the hyaline cartilage of the femoral segment equal to 1.62–1.41 mm, and the average thickness of the hyaline cartilage of the tibial segment equal to 1.28–1.10 mm, concludes that there are no deviations from the norm; in men, with an average thickness of hyaline cartilage of the femoral segment equal to 1.74–1.68 mm, and an average thickness of the hyaline cartilage of the tibial segment equal to 1.41–1.30 mm, stage 1 arthrosis is diagnosed; with an average thickness of the femoral segment hyaline cartilage equal to 1.67–1.56 mm and an average thickness of the tibial segment hyaline cartilage equal to 1.29–1.10 mm, stage 2 arthrosis is diagnosed; and with an average thickness of the femoral segment hyaline cartilage less than 1.55 mm and an average thickness of the tibial segment hyaline cartilage of 1.09 mm or less, stage 3 arthrosis is diagnosed; and in women, with an average thickness of hyaline cartilage of the femoral segment equal to 1.40–1.30 mm, and an average thickness of hyaline cartilage of the tibial segment equal to 1.09–1.06 mm, stage 1 arthrosis is diagnosed; with an average thickness of the femoral segment hyaline cartilage equal to 1.29–1.05 mm, and an average thickness of the tibial segment hyaline cartilage equal to 1.05–1.03 mm, stage 2 arthrosis is diagnosed; and with an average thickness of the hyaline cartilage of the femoral segment equal to 1.04 mm or less, as well as an average thickness of the hyaline cartilage of the tibial segment equal to 1.02 mm or less, stage 3 arthrosis is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method provides a more informative assessment of the thickness of the hyaline cartilage of the knee joint in normal and pathological conditions by processing the results of MRI data of the knee joints using the Syngo fastView program with determining the average thickness of the hyaline cartilage of the articulation surfaces depending on the gender of the patient.
