SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hybrid vehicles. In the method for determining recovery from the out-of-fuel state for the hybrid vehicle when driving starts, the rotation speed of the generator is controlled for a predetermined time. When it is found that after stopping the rotation speed control, the state in which the engine speed exceeds the threshold value continues for more than the first time, it is determined that recovery from the no-fuel state has been performed. When the time during which the engine speed is above or equal to the threshold value does not exceed the first time, the time during which the engine speed is below the threshold value is measured. When the measured time is longer than the second time, the determination of the no fuel state is maintained. The second time is longer than the first time. The target rotational speed is higher than the target generator rotational speed at the time of engine start without performing a recovery determination from the out of fuel state.

EFFECT: accuracy of the determination is increased.
