FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the area of electroplating and can be used in various branches of industry, particularly in jewellery. Proposed is application of an H2SO4 solution as an electrolyte in metal smoothing and polishing processes by ion transfer using free polymer solid bodies electrically conductive in a gaseous medium and consisting of spherical particles with porosity and ability to retain an electrolyte providing electrical conductivity of particles, wherein an H2SO4 solution is used at a concentration depending on the type of the polished metal or alloy.
EFFECT: protected application of a specific electrolyte for polishing stainless steel, Cr-Co, titanium and aluminium alloys.
