FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a polyolefin composition comprising: (A) a polyolefin homo- or copolymer, (B) a metal hydroxide in an amount of 30 to 60 wt.% relative to the weight of the polyolefin composition, and (C) calcium borate in an amount of 5 to 25 wt.% relative to the weight of the polyolefin composition. Also proposed are a wire or cable comprising one or more layers, wherein no less than one of the layers is produced from the polyolefin composition according to the present invention, and an application of the polyolefin composition as a flame-inhibiting layer of a wire or a cable.
EFFECT: proposed composition exhibits improved flame inhibiting properties while maintaining or improving mechanical properties and processability characteristics, and is suitable as a flame-inhibiting layer of a wire or cable.
