FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a flame retardant polypropylene composition for producing a flame retardant layer of an electrical wire or cable. Fire retardant composition comprises a base resin comprising a heterophasic propylene copolymer that contains a polypropylene homo- or copolymer matrix, and an ethylene-propylene rubber dispersed in said matrix, as well as metal hydroxide. In this case, the heterophasic propylene copolymer has a melt flow index (MFR2) is below 0.8 g / 10 min and the content of the fraction soluble in cold xylene is from 1 to 15 wt. %, based on the total weight of the heterophasic propylene copolymer.
EFFECT: flame retardant composition according to the invention has good refractory properties, flexibility at subzero temperature and resistance to abrasion, which allows it to be used as a flame retardant layer in automotive wires and wires for household electrical appliances.
