FIELD: fire protection.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a fire-resistant polymer composition and can be used as a fire-resistant layer of wire or cable. The fire-resistant polymer composition contains the following components: A) from 7.5 to 40.5 wt.% based on the total weight of the polymer composition of the copolymer containing ethylene units and units selected from the group consisting of methyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate and mixtures thereof; B) from 1.0 to 5.0% by weight, based on the total weight of the polyethylene polymer composition containing units derived from maleic anhydride; C) from 1.0 to 4 wt.% based on the total weight of the polymer composition of silicone liquid and/or silicone resin selected from the group consisting of polydimethylsiloxane and siloxanes containing alkoxy or alkyl functional groups, and mixtures thereof; D) from 55.0 to 67.0 wt.% based on the total weight of the magnesium hydroxide polymer composition, and wherein component B) is obtained by copolymerizing polyethylene with maleic anhydride and/or grafting polyethylene with maleic anhydride. The invention also relates to a wire or cable containing at least one layer of a fire-resistant polymer composition and to the use of a fire-resistant polymer composition as a fire-resistant layer of the wire or cable.
EFFECT: creation of a fire-resistant polymer composition that has excellent fire-resistant properties and good mechanical properties, is easy to process, and provides high extruder performance.
