FIELD: treatment of water.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions can be used in water treatment for purification of surface water. The water treatment unit includes a reservoir body (11) with an inlet area (12) for purified water, an outlet area (13) for pure water and a purification area (14) in fluid communication. The purification area (14) comprises a first, second and third filtration areas (15, 16, 9) for water purification, wherein each filtration area (15, 16, 19) extends in the longitudinal direction of the purification area (14) parallel to each other. The first filtration area (15) includes a flow stabilisation apparatus (17). The second filtration area (16) comprises filtering material (18) for prefiltration of water. The third filtration area comprises additional filtering material (20) for removing organic and/or chemical substances and/or heavy metals. The method for water purification using a water purification unit includes supplying purified water through an inlet hole (28) to the inlet area (12), further passing the water into the purification area through the first filtration area (15) with the flow stabilisation apparatus (17), further through the second filtration area (16) with the filtering material (18) and through the third filtration area (19) with additional filtering material (20). The purified water is directed to the outlet area (13) and passed through the outlet area to the outlet hole (29).

EFFECT: group of inventions provides efficient use of the volume of the reservoir for purification of water and increased amount of purified water.
