SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method for producing a composition of a bacterially enriched feed for ruminants and to a composition of a feed for ruminants. The method includes the stages of a) providing a protein feed material for fermentation; b) providing an inoculum including lactic acid bacteria, wherein the concentration of bacteria in the inoculum on stage b) is sufficient for growth of bacteria, yeast or molds present in the protein feed from stage a); c) combining the materials from stages a) and b) and fermenting the protein feed material from stage a) using the inoculates from stage b), wherein a fermented protein feed material is provided thereby; and d) adding methanotrophic bacteria to the fermented protein feed material to provide a composition of a bacterially enriched feed for ruminants. The amount of the added methanotrophic bacteria selected from the group consisting of Methylomonas, Methylobacter, Methylococcus, Methylosinus and mixtures thereof is from 1 to 55 vol.%.

EFFECT: use of the group of inventions allows to produce a composition allowing to reduce the amount of methane released from the digestive tract of ruminants.
