FIELD: pharmaceuticals.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the field of pharmaceuticals, namely to an oral composition for targeted delivery of cholestyramine to the colon. The oral composition for targeted delivery of cholestyramine to the colon is comprised of: a) multiple moulded and spheronised pellets containing at least 70% wt./wt. cholestyramine and at least 7% wt./wt. vinylpyrrolidone-based polymer, or a combination of at least 6% wt./wt. vinylpyrrolidone-based polymer and at least 2% wt./wt. acrylate copolymer, or a combination of at least 5% wt./wt. vinylpyrrolidone-based polymer and at least 3% wt./wt. acrylate copolymer, or a combination of at least 6% wt./wt. vinylpyrrolidone-based polymer and at least 1% wt./wt. acrylate copolymer and at least 10% wt./wt. microcrystalline cellulose; and b) a diffusion-controlled inner coating around said pellets; and c) an outer enteric coating. The group of inventions also relates to an application of such composition in treatment or prevention of bile acid malabsorption and bile acid diarrhea.

EFFECT: invention allows to reduce the dosage of cholestyramine and prevents pellets from being released before reaching the colon, reducing undesirable interactions of cholestyramine with other components in the gastrointestinal tract, such as other medicinal products or nutrients.
