SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of growing crystals. The method for alloying zinc selenide crystals with chromium includes mixing zinc selenide powders and an alloying additive and subsequent growing the crystal from the melt under argon pressure, while chromium is introduced into the initial charge in the form of chromium monoselenide CrSe, and the crystal is grown by vertical zone melting.
EFFECT: invention ensures the production of ZnSe crystals with a chromium concentration that practically coincides with the Cr content in the initial charge.
