FIELD: powder metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for electrolytic production of zirconium silicide powders for making functional materials for various purposes. Method includes electrolysis of molten electrolyte using graphite cathode with control of cathode current density and cathode potential, wherein the melted electrolyte used is a mixture KCl-K2SiF6, electrolysis of molten electrolyte with temperature of 780–800 °C is carried out at cathode current density from 8 to 20 mA/cm2 and potential from 0.1 to −0.3 V relative to silicon potential in this electrolyte, and silicon and zirconium oxides are used as sources of silicon and zirconium.

EFFECT: simpler production of zirconium silicide powders and reduced power consumption.
