SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of alkaline chitin and its derivatives, chitosan and its derivatives. The method for producing alkaline chitosan, chitin or their derivatives with a low endotoxin content involves bringing chitosan, chitin, chitosan derivative or chitin derivative into contact with an alkaline solution having a concentration of 0.01 to 0.2 M to produce a mixture. The mixture is dried immediately. Products obtained by this method, a method for obtaining neutral chitosan, a chitosan salt or a chitosan derivative with a low endotoxin content, products obtained by this method, the use of the above chitosan salt to stop bleeding, a hemostatic wound dressing and a method for stopping bleeding are also proposed.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to obtain chitosan with low endotoxin content with high hemostatic properties.
