FIELD: nuclear energy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear energy and can be used for the decontamination of radioactive waste. Preliminary, solid radioactive waste is defragmented to a size suitable for placement in an ultrasonic and electrochemical bath. The bath is filled with a decontamination solution based on a mixture of nitric and hydrofluoric acids in a 1:1 ratio. In this case, the concentration of acids in the decontamination solution is: nitric acid from 5 to 10%, hydrofluoric acid from 0.1 to 2%. The process of decontamination of radioactive waste is carried out at a temperature of the decontamination solution from 18°C to 50°C. In the process of decontamination, electrochemical treatment is performed, with the radioactive products (waste) acting as the anode (s), and the cathodes are separately isolated electrodes. Electrochemical treatment of solid radioactive waste is carried out at a current density of 0.5-20 A/dm2. Simultaneously, the imposition of ultrasonic action with the power of the ultrasonic field of 20-40 W/l of the working electrolyte is performed.
EFFECT: invention allows cleaning materials from radioactive contamination for further use and reducing the volumes sent for storage of secondary radioactive waste.
