SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a toner cartridge and a toner supply mechanism that will be used to form an electrophotographic image. The toner cartridge includes a container and an opener/closing element. The container includes a placement section, an outlet port, and a side cartridge guide. The opening/closing element includes a closing section and a gearing section and is designed to move between the closed position and the open position. When the toner cartridge is removed from the receiver, the engagement section takes the force to move the opening/closing element from the opening position to the closing position, engaging with the side guide of the receiver from the receiver.
