SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely orthodontics, and can be used for quantitative assessment of the periodontal bone tissue resorption during orthodontic treatment. Cone-beam computed tomography of the dentition before and after treatment is performed. The resorption of periodontal bone tissue in the sagittal, vertical and transversal directions is evaluated. With the help of geometric constructions, the anatomical neck of the tooth, the length of the root are determined, the bone thickness is measured. Next, the sum of the measured values of bone thickness in the area of the corresponding teeth in the sagittal, vertical and transversal directions before and after treatment is determined. An assessment of the dynamics of periodontal bone resorption at the end of orthodontic treatment is made on the basis of drawing up a proportion, where the sum of the measured values of periodontal bone thickness before treatment is taken as 100% and a percentage value is found for the sum of the measured values of periodontal bone thickness after treatment, according to which the degree of periodontal bone resorption in the sagittal, vertical and transversal directions is determined: from 0% to 10%, the normal value of periodontal bone resorption; from 10% to 30%, 1st degree of periodontal bone resorption; from 30% to 50%, 2nd degree of periodontal bone resorption; from 50% or more, 3rd degree of periodontal bone resorption.

EFFECT: invention provides increased accuracy of determining the dynamics of periodontal bone resorption by evaluating this symptom of maxillofacial anomalies interpreted in dynamics.
