SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for assessing the technical condition of electrochemical power sources and devices for its implementation. The effect is achieved due to the fact that diagnostics is carried out based on the analysis of transient processes caused by natural or forced changes in the load resistance and analysis of the induced relaxation processes. In the proposed method, to assess the technical state of an electrochemical current source, a stepwise effect on the electrochemical current source is formed, the response to the stepwise effect is measured, parametric identification of the model of the response of the electrochemical current source to the step effect is carried out, then, based on the results of parametric identification, the technical state of the electrochemical current source is assessed. A device that implements the proposed method contains: an electrochemical current source 1, a current measurement module 2, an electrical load 3, a step action formation module 4, a voltage measurement module 5, a data collection and preprocessing device 6, a model parameter identification unit 7, a decision-making unit 8 and control device 9.

EFFECT: increasing coverage by means of automatic control of power supplies based on electrochemical current sources, as well as increasing their reliability and service life, through timely detection and prevention of critical operating modes.
