FIELD: tobacco industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the tobacco industry, namely to aerosol delivery devices. The aerosol delivery device contains at least one casing covering the reservoir made with the possibility to hold the aerosol precursor composition. The device contains a flow sensor made with the possibility to detect the airflow through at least part of the specified at least one casing. The device contains a light source made with the possibility to emit light into the reservoir. The device contains a photo sensor made with the possibility to detect light reflection, and such light reflection indicates the amount of aerosol precursor composition retained in the reservoir. The device contains a control component made with the possibility to control in active mode the aerosol delivery device in order to induce the aerosol delivery device to produce an aerosol from the aerosol precursor composition. The control component is connected to a photo sensor and is made with the possibility to control the operation of at least one functional element of the aerosol delivery device based on the detected reflection and, thus, the amount of aerosol precursor composition. The control component is made with the possibility to limit the control in active mode in cases where both the flow sensor detects the airflow and the light reflection detected by the photo sensor indicates the presence of at least a threshold amount of the aerosol precursor composition. The cartridge for the aerosol delivery device and the control case are also disclosed.
