SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the tobacco industry, namely to aerosol delivery devices. The aerosol delivery device contains a casing forming a reservoir, designed to hold the composition of the aerosol precursor. The aerosol delivery device contains a heating element located inside the casing, controlled to activate and vaporize the components of the aerosol precursor composition. The aerosol delivery device contains a valve designed to control the flow of the aerosol precursor composition from the tank to the heating element. The aerosol delivery device contains a sensor designed to measure the reflectivity or temperature of the heating element and generate the corresponding signal. The aerosol delivery device also contains a control component designed to receive an appropriate signal and determine the volume of the aerosol precursor composition on the heating element based on the reflectivity or temperature measured in this way. The control component is designed to control the valve to reduce or increase the flow rate of the aerosol precursor composition when the volume is respectively above or below a predetermined volume threshold. Also disclosed is a control casing connected or capable of being connected to a cartridge and forming an aerosol delivery device.
