SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology. The visual acuity of the child is measured using a Plusoptix A12C refractometer. Refractometry is performed in the binocular mode, the presence of compensated or uncompensated hypermetropia is detected. Further research is conducted by adding lenses with a sph value of –3.0 dptr. Pupillometry is then performed in photopic, mesoptic and scotopic conditions. The transparency of the optical media is then estimated, the obtained data is analysed after each measurement and used to make a conclusion about the visual functions of the child. In a particular case, if compensated hypermetropia is detected, further research is conducted in the binocular mode in physiological conditions. In a particular case, if uncompensated hypermetropia is detected, further research is conducted in the monocular mode in physiological and cycloplegic conditions. In a particular case, the degree of complete hypermetropia is estimated in cycloplegic conditions of refraction examination.

EFFECT: provides a possibility of expanding the functional capabilities, reducing the duration and increasing the accuracy and certainty of determining visual functions in preverbal children.
