FIELD: food industry; pharmaceutics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to aqueous dispersions of organic peroxides insoluble in water, a method for their production and use. A non-flammable composition for food and pharmaceutical industry is proposed, where the composition is an aqueous dispersion, which is pumped and poured, which has viscosity at 25°C of 800-500 cP and a main aqueous phase with pH approximately from 7.5 to 10, and which contains: a) approximately from 30% to approximately 50% by wt. of the total composition mass of solid organic peroxide insoluble in water in the form of particles with the average size less than approximately 10 mcm, which is benzoyl peroxide; b) water; c) at least one gelatinizing agent; d) at least one surfactant; e) optionally at least one buffer; and f) approximately 2% by wt. or more of the total composition mass of at least one carboxylic acid salt containing monovalent cation. A method for the discoloration of a product using the proposed composition and options of a method for the production of the claimed composition are also proposed.

EFFECT: introduction of carboxylic acid salt slows down water evaporation from the aqueous dispersion of solid peroxide such as benzoyl peroxide; carboxylic acid salt makes the aqueous dispersion less sensitive to explosive decomposition under the influence of external trigger events such as impact, heating, tension or contamination, while it does not interfere the capability of obtaining and retaining the stable dispersion of small-sized particles having the required viscosity and required flow characteristics.
