FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: proposed invention relates to a method for operating a blast furnace containing a rotating tray; a set of tuyeres; a device for measuring profiles, made with the ability to measure the surface profiles of the charge loaded into the blast furnace using a rotating tray; and a blast regulator, made with the ability to control the blast of at least a flow of hot air or pulverized coal from each of the many tuyeres. Moreover, the device for measuring profiles contains: a radio-wave distance meter, which is installed on the furnace throat and is made with the ability to measure the distance to the surface of the charge in the blast furnace; and an arithmetic unit made with the possibility of theoretically obtaining profiles of the charge surfaces based on distance data for the entire blast furnace, related to the distances to the surface of the charge obtained by scanning the measuring wave of the radio-wave distance meter in the direction around the circumference of the blast furnace.

EFFECT: precise control of the charge distribution in the blast furnace due to the accurate and fast determination of the charge surface profiles in the blast furnace.
