FIELD: integrated optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of integrated optics, and more specifically to methods for fine adjustment of the contrast of integral-optical Mach-Zehnder interferometers. A method for adjusting a Mach-Zehnder integrated optical interferometer includes preliminary formation of metallization regions on the surface of waveguides in both arms of the interferometer, supplying working optical radiation to the input of the interferometer, selection to adjust the intensity of the interferometer arm by exposing the metallization area with a spot of correcting laser radiation with a diameter of 5-10 mcm and an intensity of 103 W/mm2 until the value of the signal of the working optical radiation at the interferometer output is changed, affecting the section of the interferometer arm selected for adjustment in the area of metallization with a spot correcting laser radiation until the specified value of the interferometer contrast is reached.
EFFECT: invention provides adjustment of the interferometer with increased accuracy.
