SUBSTANCE: invention relates to continuous casting. The method for continuous casting of molten metal includes feeding metal into an intermediate bucket and releasing it from the intermediate bucket through filling cups to the following parts of the continuous casting installation. A fireproof anti-shock insert in the form of a cuboid with a spherical upper surface is installed on the bottom of the intermediate bucket. The casting speed is changed, while the amount of metal poured into the intermediate bucket and poured out of it is set equal, which ensures that the position of the surface of the molten metal in the intermediate bucket remains unchanged. When the characteristics of the poured metal are changed, the metal contained in the intermediate bucket is previously removed from it in a potentially possible full volume. The implementation of a fireproof anti-shock insert in the form of a cuboid with a spherical upper surface allows one to optimize the direction of the metal jet, increase its speed and eliminate the formation of a closed flow.

EFFECT: content of inclusions in the poured metal is reduced by preventing the formation of “dead zones” and “red eye” in the intermediate bucket.
